York Minster - The Nave, begun
in 1291, and finished in the 1350s in the Decorated Gothic style, is one
of the widest Gothic names in Europe. It is used for services throughout
the year. Restoration and conservation work continues to be in progress. The Screen (left) constructed in the 15th century is decorated with statues of fifteen kings of England from William I to Henry VI. A view of the Roof Bosses (left) portray scenes in the life of Christ and his mother Mary. The medieval historic streets of shopping galore called the Shambles (right). A view of the wall surrounding the City (right). Malcolm and Cameron (6 months) posing for a photo. Our baby was such a good traveller. We loved our trip to York. It is easy to imagine the Medieval Era in a place like this. |
