Muncaster Castle

Muncaster Castle is located in one of Europe's most remote and dramatic landscapes. It's a wild, untamed setting of ancient woods and soaring mountains. The Himilayan Gardens cover over 70 acres and include plants from all over the world. The spectacular rhododendrons were monstrously the size of a house. This immense Castle was built to repel marauding Scots.
We took an audio led tour of the inside of the Castle. The Castle itself houses a large variety of artifacts collected by the family over the centuries. The Great Hall, octagonal library and dining room were all windows. It was amazing to see that a Bishop's Room was bigger than the King's Room. |
