Notes
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer programs. Features: Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Staind, Static-X, Deadsy Producer: Josh Abraham (Compilation) Wondering what surly teens were listening to barely a year into the new millennium? Then tap into THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR 2001, the live recording of a package tour featuring many of the day's best-selling aggro-rock acts. Keeping the blood boiling are Linkin Park with their fusion of crunching riffs and techno bounce on the hit "Runaway," Staind's tortured angst-fest "Fade" and ruminative smash "It's Been Awhile," and Static-X's industrial-flavored workout "Cold." Stone Temple Pilots fit in neatly as a headliner despite being more associated with post-grunge than the class of hard rock the opening acts represent. Although their "Vasoline" comes off sounding a bit on the sludgy side, they deliver a solid "Wicked Garden," and the gorgeous harmonies of the acoustic "Wonderful" benefit from a cameo by Linkin Park's Chester Bennington. The props given to Rush via Deadsy's buzzing cover of "Tom Sawyer" are a pleasant surprise, but the MVP of FAMILY VALUES TOUR 2001 turns out to be Staind's sensitive frontman Aaron Lewis. Aside from appearing with his own group, Lewis delivers a solo acoustic cover of Pearl Jam's "Black" in addition to popping up on Linkin Park's hard-hitting "One Step Closer" and STP's mournful "Creep."
