This is a story about how the simple job of changing a starter on my 1959 GMC pick-up snowballed into a full frame-off restoration job. It may be hard to believe that someone would want to do a complete frame-off restoration on an existing nice truck, but perfection does not come easy. Yes, those pictures are of the truck before I started.
I figured it was just as easy to pull out the engine to replace the starter because of the oil pan and headers being in the way. I also thought this would give me a great chance to clean up the engine compartment and replace the inner fenders while simultaneously replacing the starter. Well, one thing lead to another and before you knew it the truck was down to the bare frame.
