Fortunately, one of the fenders was in near perfect shape. The other one wasn't so lucky. It looked like it had been repaired a few times with different skill levels. Shane was able to fix all of these and make the fender near perfect before any filler was applied. The inside of the fenders were painted to avoid the hassle of painting them on the truck.
Stripping the paint off showed how many times the truck had been painted and also showed rust lurking at the bottom of the door. After stripping all of the paint off, new steel was fabricated for the bottom of the doors. Everything was then sprayed with DP-40 before doing any bodywork.
At first glance the rockers and step plates didn't look too bad. But it was amazing what horrors we found after grinding away the rockers and peeling up the step plate. New cab corners were installed and the rockers and step plated were hand made from new steel.
