With the engine out, and the inner fenders being replaced it only made sense to pull off the rest of the front end and really do a good job of the firewall. Also, since I was going to re-do the interior and the wiring, this seemed like the perfect time. The box was removed so the wood could be refinished. It was only another four bolts to pull the cab off, so off she came.
With the engine and transmission out, it seemed pointless to put it all back the way it was. The 350 bow tie recieved 1.94 closed chamber heads, 10.5 to 1 pistons, a 501/292 comp cam. It was all topped off with a weiand 7546 high-rise intake manifold, a carter 625 comp series carb, and an ugly bug catcher. The turbo 350 was rebuilt with a stage 1 shift kit, and the ford 9 inch recieved a 3.50 posi unit.
The cab, with the freshly painted firewall and interior, was placed on the stripped and re-painted chassis. With the box wood re-finished, the wiring was almost complete. Just the interior left to do. But wait, what about these little bubbles in the paint all over the hood and roof? It looked like solvent popping, or a reaction from a previous paint job. The only fix for this was to strip everything down to bare metal.
